Sheinbaum | Claudia Sheinbaum is widely believed to be the next president of Mexico because of her stable lead in the polls. Mexicans vote on 2 June. Sheinbaum told reporters this month that she will steer state-owned oil company PEMEX to focus on renewable energy. That could signal reforms that would bring down the price of renewable energy across Mexico’s industrial northern region. If electricity prices fall, that will attract Bitcoin miners. Miners have so far been resistant to invest in Mexico because of high electricity prices and bullying by the federal electricity regulator CFE. According to several sources, the CFE is already exposed to Bitcoin Mining through informal extortion schemes.
