What is Barracuda?

Barracuda is analysis, insights and commentary on how geopolitics impact the Bitcoin Network and other critical blockchain projects. We are primarily focused on the politics of adoption in Latin America. We ask questions like:

  • Who in the matrix is really driving the decisions for how Latin American governments develop their policy regime for Bitcoin, the Lightning Network and other competitive blockchain infrastructure (Ethereum, TRON, CBDCs, etc.)? Is it a loud Senator? Is it a quiet lobby with a specific agenda?

  • What companies are involved in the build-out of wallets, exchanges and other digital infrastructure? What are their politics? And how is the banking sector responding?

  • How are governments thinking about their energy resources and the build-out of energy infrastructure for Bitcoin mining? What are the political interests involved in shaping the development of energy-intensive Bitcoin mining?

  • How are US-China tensions and other geopolitical issues around technology deployed by adversarial governments (i.e. Russia, Iran, DPRK, etc.) being imported into Latin America’s political domain?

  • What are the sources of sanctions risk, corruption-related sanctions risk, illicit finance risk and other criminal activity that could negatively impact the adoption of Bitcoin network infrastructure?
